BOOK SYNOPSIS

“We’re dragons. We don’t do the mushy friend thing.” – Daniel

The dragon-shifter king will do anything to keep his mate alive…even if it means war.

After millennia as king of the dragon-shifters, Daniel Ashborne wants a little peace and quiet, especially from the beautiful Hollywood starlet who haunts his memories. His escape tactics end abruptly when he is called to the ER to save the one woman he wants to forget, but who now bears his mark.

Shelby Kincade’s life and movie career were nearly destroyed when Daniel vanished a year ago. Now he’s back, claiming they have been accidentally mated. Getting over him once was hard enough, but she must choose either the life of her dreams or the man she can’t live without.

With peace finally on the horizon between the dragon-shifters and the Hunters, an assassination attempt on the dragon king and his mate shatters everything. Tensions rebuild as Daniel and his loyal team of shifters try to discover who put out the hit. Enemy and ally lines are crossed, but in the end--after the battle ash has settled--no one could have foreseen who has plotted for their own gain.

CONTENT WARNING: Graphic fight scenes, lots of great sex, and hot, hot, hot dragon men.

EXCERPT

A furious Daniel towered over her.

Realizing she was in an ambulance, she scooted back on the stretcher, pulling the sheet tighter around herself. Something was very, very off. There was no pain or range of motion issue with her shoulder. There was just a blackness where the last hour should have been. Whatever was wrong with her, it ran core deep, and had everything to do with the man treating her as if she’d caused all the wrongs in his world.

She let out a pathetic snort. He had vanished on her, leaving her to face the last year alone. The media wasn’t forgiving at the best of times, and they’d had a field day–field year–with America’s Good Girl falling from grace. A dead body, and the disappearance of the man accused of the crime, was too good of a story for the media not to run around the clock for a month straight.

It didn’t make any sense why he hated her. For as much hell as he’d caused her in the last eleven months, professionally and personally, nothing had prepared her for the blast of emotions that rocked her at seeing him standing close to her again. She had no idea what to do with the realization she’d missed him. As soon as she figured out what the hell was going on, she needed deep psychological help.

“So.” She was careful to keep her left arm tucked against her stomach as she tried in vain to put more distance between them. It still didn’t hurt, but the thought of ripping the rapidly healing wound open made her queasy. She’d never been a big fan of blood. Her teeth tugged at her bottom lip as she tried not to worry about how much space he took up, even while sitting on the bench. He was huge. “You’re alive.” When he leaned forward, bringing them closer together, she tried to keep her face impassive. Her gaze dropped to the huge forearms he braced against tree trunk-sized thighs, before she snapped her attention back to his face. He was a lunatic who looked to be on the verge of major violence. She wasn’t so confused she didn’t understand the combination was a powder keg with a lit fuse. “I wasn’t sure. The police said you were gone before the ambulance ever got to the hospital.”

“Disappointed, princess?”

She almost snorted at him. She’d spent the last year hoping he was still alive, and trying not to let the uncertainty drive her out of her mind. “I didn’t get myself shot on purpose, you know. So whatever you’re mad at me about, it’s not my fault. I didn’t ask them to call you.”

“Right.” He dragged his gaze from the mark over her heart back to her face. Though she was sure she was imagining it, she could have sworn his eyes lingered on her mouth. “Just like the Hunter showing up in your bedroom was just a weird twist of fate?”

“A hunter?” She asked, certain she was missing a huge part of the conversation. “Daniel, my house was in the most exclusive part of Los Angeles. There isn’t anywhere to hunt.”

“Ryuu.”

She remembered that word from their first date. He’d told her it was an ancient dragon curse because his sister didn’t like him using cuss words. Funny. She’d thought it was sweet at the time. Now she was sure it just made him bat-shit crazy.

AUTHOR BIO

Convinced dragons have gotten a bad rep throughout time, and more than a little addicted to fairy tales and romance novels, Eden Ashe has decided to re-write history. In her version, the dragons are ancient warriors in tarnished armor, who not only deserve the girl in the end, but will fight forever for her.

Synopsis

“The Rebound Effect” states that in order to get over your ex, you have to get under someone else. At least, that’s what Miles Bedford’s best friend keeps telling him.

So when he’s suddenly ricocheted back into the single life, Miles has one thing in mind. The plan is simple, and his intentions are clear. He’s not looking for love. But sometimes all it takes is one person, and one weekend, to change everything.

Meet the Author

I began exploring my love for writing as a child, when I started penning original poetry.

However, it wasn’t until early 2012 that I picked up a pen—or my phone, if you want to get technical—to write my first full length story, inspired by a close friend’s evolving relationship with her best friend.

That rush of completing the story, posting it online, and interacting with readers and fellow writers opened up the floodgates, and I haven’t looked back since. I write romance targeted to a more mature audience of readers. My stories fall under the categories of Contemporary Romance, New Adult, and Erotica.

When asked why I choose these genres, my answer is simple: I like reading things that are on the sexier side. So that’s what I try to write, too.

At the end of the day, I guess you can say I’m a daydreamer and a word mixologist hoping to serve my readers up stories they can enjoy.

Born in New York, raised in Florida, and matured in Massachusetts, I consider myself a bit of an East Coast baby without limitations on a specific region. At the moment, however, I reside in Florida with my family.

excerpt

She responded instantly, rocking against my hands. I smiled, loving how fucking wet she was. It took everything in me not to whip my dick out and fuck her right there.
She fisted my collar, muffling her cries and whimpers into the crook of my neck.
Nearby, a car alarm went off. She tensed but I let out a strained laugh. “We’re always getting interrupted.” I pulled my fingers out of her, stuck them in my mouth, and held in my whimper. She tasted so good. She did whimper, though. Probably because I didn’t get to finish what I started.
“We can pick this up later,” I said.
We were quiet as we got on I-95, but it wasn’t like earlier in the day when the silence made me want to jump out of my skin. When we passed the exit that would lead us to her loft, Noelle shoulders relaxed, and her lips curled up in a soft smile. I took that to mean she knew I was going to my house, but to be sure, I asked, “We’re going to my place. Is that cool?”
“Definitely.”
And we were quiet again because I realized what I’d said. We were going to my house.
The silence and my thoughts about what bringing Noelle home symbolized lasted our whole ride, only ending when we got inside my place and I offered her something to drink.
I leaned against the counter and rested my head against the cabinet above. My heart slammed in my chest. This was momentous. The importance of having Noelle in my house—in my kitchen—drinking from glasses I bought after my ex left me and took all her things, along with some of my confidence with her.
I felt good—happy despite my nerves. In one night Noelle threw me and my plans off kilter. The guys were right; she had me by the balls. My only desire was to get out of my head and enjoy every minute of our limited time together.
I opened my eyes and found her watching me over the top of the glass. A small smile played on her juicy lips, and she had that look that let me know she knew what she did to me.

EXCERPT

The instant he walked into The Gearhead bar, she knew it. Chatter stuttered to a stop, and the cover band seemed to trip on the beat. Without looking over her shoulder, Ever felt Jamison’s heavy stare.

A shiver raced down her spine, but she managed to keep from contorting into a strange shape on the barstool. Jamison Montgomery. Hell, even his name had serious swagger.

Gripping her glass, she stared at the green contents. Sex with an Alligator was her drink of choice, which had amused the hell out of Jamison from the very beginning. Ever hitched her boot heel on the stool rung and tried not to squirm.

From the corner of her eye she glimpsed the man who stopped every lady—and quite a few men—in their tracks. Six-foot-two with a chiseled chest that served as a fine pillow. Not that she’d admit it to anyone.

The pretty bartender leaned across the polished surface. “Wow, look at him. I bet a girl could ride him to Sturgis and back.”

As if she didn’t know exactly who the brunette referred to, Ever glanced around. And instantly regretted it.

Jamison’s deep hazel gaze latched onto her like a motorhead attached himself to a restored Harley. Ever’s skin broke out in goose bumps at the sight of the same five o’clock shadow that had burned her skin so deliciously not twelve hours ago.

She clenched her knees together and took a slug of the green drink that tasted like a sour apple hard candy. “Do you know who that is?” the bartender asked.

Barely turning her head, Ever tried not to let him catch her gaze again, but damn if he wasn’t a professional at it. She let him consume her with his eyes a heartbeat too long. Then shaking her head, she dragged her gaze away from his ruggedly beautiful face and tried to play it cool. “Just some dirtbag.”

Her drawl was Deep South even to her own ears—something Jamison had commented on. That and her name. There weren’t a lot of girls named Ever on the big blue ball they called Earth. When explaining her name, she always claimed her mother had named her this, because given a choice, she’d never, ever get pregnant again.

Three stools down, the scrape of metal legs on the dusty wood floor made Ever’s skin prickle. Anything the man touched or looked at turned her into runny grits. The bartender smoothed her hands over her perfectly trim hips before bouncing down to take his order.

“What can I get ya tonight, loverboy?”

“Double of Jack.” When he spoke, his gritty tone ignited Ever. Too well she recalled him calling her baby in the same voice, sounding as if he’d swallowed gaskets and chased them with moonshine.

Ever’s fists clenched with fresh need.

She’d regretted coming back to this Podunk town where she’d spent too many years as someone’s wife. Then the purdiest man in the state of Alabama had wandered through the door.

Too bad he was not a cowboy. Or a banker. A post office worker. Hell, she’d prefer a sewer employee over another man wearing leather and sporting too much horsepower.

She shifted in her seat, aware of Jamison’s gaze. She didn’t dare turn her head because her face would light up like the Fourth of July. With a complexion like hers, she had little control over her blushes.

Last night Jamison kissed her heated cheeks and rumbled a laugh. “You match your hair,” he’d said.

“I’ve gotta use the lady’s room. Save my drink.” Ever’s mutter to the waitress didn’t go unnoticed by Mr. Tight Jeans. She didn’t get halfway down the corridor leading to the restrooms when leather and earthy aftershave overwhelmed her. He grabbed her elbow and whirled her. Her back struck the wall, but he slid a hand behind her in time to cushion the impact. As Jamison leaned in, breath minty and lips inviting as hell, she panted for control.

“Just some dirtbag, huh?”

He was dressed to kill in those dark jeans, his motorcycle club T-shirt, and a black leather vest that fitted to every muscled inch of his torso. Ever’s knees sagged, and he trapped her more firmly against the wall.

Dipping his head, he nuzzled her throat. She sucked in a harsh breath and fought the urge to twist her fingers into his leather cut and yank him down. The memory of those heated lips gliding over her flesh was almost too much to bear. “Was I just some dirtbag to you last night?”

“Y-yes.” Her whisper was a lie, and they both knew it. God, how was she going to continue to resist this man? Every nerve ending in her body begged for his callused touch. But no, she had too much to lose.

Going back to the Life wasn’t an option. She’d busted her ass to break free of the world of guns, drugs, and anything on two wheels.

In the background the band struck a new song, the drummer a little too enthusiastic. Heller’s Gap had never been known for its musical talent, but someone had to keep couples revolving on The Gearhead’s dance floor.

What the hell had she been thinking to even come into a biker bar? Old habits would kill her in the end.

Book Excerpts

Airi streaks out of the sky, touches down, and screams to a sliding halt, her wings flaring wide in a primitive airbrake. Water erupts in her wake as her feet skid on the smooth obsidian top of the pyramid. Bel doesn't slow down, and I gasp when his right arm reaches back and his hand clamps down on my upper arm. I instantly know what he is doing and it chills me far worse than the driving rain.
I relax my grip on his neck and let the talisman drop back to settle at my throat. It hums with power as the light brightens now that my fingers no longer block it.
“Go! Go!” Bel bellows as his hand drags me from his back. I lurch sideways as he spirals, snapping his pale wings shut at the last minute to avoid colliding with the stone floor and the portals. The force of the maneuver flings my slight weight out and away from him, and his hand releases me just as my feet brush the stone platform. Upright, I skid across the wet floor and collide with Airi in a rush of wind and water.
Bel vanishes in a snap of feathers, his lean muscles able to power him back into the air shockingly fast. He disappears into the stormy sky beyond the aura of the talisman, leaving me breathless and light-headed.
“Bel,” I cry into the teeming rain, and stumble away from Airi's strong grip. My knees threaten to fold beneath me. The pounding rain beating on my face melds with tears that burn my eyes. I need to go to him, but long, strong fingers hold me up and back.

“Moira, he's got to distract them. We have a job to do,” Airi screams over the steady roar of the rain, and shoves me back around toward the statues. I stumble to stand between them, and tear my gaze from the ominous clouds to the stone figures. blinking against the shards of rain pummeling me I search the sky one more time for any sign of Belamar. Far above, beyond the glow of my talisman, wraith-like shadows dive and race. Tears blur everything.

Romantic couple in a hotel room

 BOOK EXCERPT

The moon shone bright over a crystal clear lake. Thousands of stars were reflected, like floating diamonds sparkling. The breeze blew gently through red cedar, pine, and maple. The clean mountain air reminded him of camping with his family when he was a boy.

It had been so long since he had the liberty, and desire, to enjoy nature. The water called to Devlin. Carefully, without a sound, he pulled the clothes from his body and placed them on the stump beside him.

With a slow breath, he walked into the gentle ripples, creating larger crests of his own. Warm water greeted him. He dove under, swimming deeper.

A splash caught Devlin’s attention. He broke the surface to find nothing, and no one. Closing his eyes, he reached out with his senses. A lone werewolf was close.

Panic flared through him, and he started for the shore, but a woman surfaced before him. A slow smile spread on her face when he flailed back, splashing her in his surprise.

“Your heart’s pounding.” Amusement sparkled in her pale blue topaz eyes as she placed one small hand over his chest. Warmth washed through him offering a calm he couldn’t remember ever feeling.

Yet, he was terrified the Dales were tracking him. A dream, nothing more than a dream. They can’t find me, he reminded himself.

“You startled me,” Devlin replied.

“Hmm.” Her foot brushed against his calf, sending a shiver through his entire body. She tapped her finger to her chin. “You remind me of someone, but I can’t figure out who.”

Intrigued, and certainly heading toward aroused, he asked, “What makes you say that?”

One corner of her shiny pink mouth lifted impishly. “Don’t know, but you do.” Her voice had taken on a husky purr which effectively made his blood pump faster.

A dream, just a dream, he told himself. Then he did something bold, something he hadn’t done in so long he was sure he’d fail, even in a fantasy. “What’s a sweet little wolf like you doing out here all alone?”

Her giggle was melodic as her already dazzling eyes lit up. “Looking for love in all the wrong places.”

As if on cue, his resistance broke. Her tiny waist fit perfectly in his hands, her hips flared in a way that made him groan. Devlin propelled them closer to the shore, until his feet touched bottom.

Before he could make his move, her legs locked around his hips and her fingers caressed up his shoulder and neck to delve into his hair. She grazed her lips over his. Afraid to take things too far, he slid his hands up her back, pressing her full breasts against his chest.

Needing more of her taste, he deepened their kiss. Devlin felt more alive than he could remember. A dream, just a blasted dream, his brain chimed in. The knowledge didn’t stop him from sweeping his tongue into her mouth when she opened to him.

Her body undulated in tune with his, and her heated core slid against his hardened length. The urge to bury himself in her was too much.

Pulling back, he panted, “Your name? Need your name, Precious.”

“Precious?” She licked her lips as she stared back at him with something like awe in her big blue eyes.

He tipped his forehead to hers and breathed in her wild but seductive scent. “You’ve set me free of my old life. You’ve given me something to look forward to.” He didn’t know where the words came from, but he didn’t dare take them back. They felt right.

“Jamie Abrams. You better come to me.” There was a command hidden in her sweet sassy voice, one he truly wanted to obey. “I’ll be waiting.”

He nodded, rolling her name through his head like a fine wine over his tongue.

Trapped by Beverley Kendall

Series: Trapped #1
Publication date: July 7th 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:

My life has turned out to be such a cliché. And not in a good way.

It’s not exactly Sixteen and Pregnant, but at eighteen my only advantage is a high school diploma. And if that’s not enough, the father—and I use that term loosely—couldn’t have hightailed it out of my life fast enough.

I thought I really knew him. Unfortunately, my boyfriend of three years transformed from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde once he realized his carefree, childless days would be coming to an end.

I’m over him now though. The real love of my life is chubby, has more gum than teeth, and stands a little over two feet tall. She may not have been planned, but I’ve never regretted having her. She is the center of my world.

A world that’s turned upside down when my ex returns ready to earn the love and trust of the child he abandoned before birth.

Letting him into my daughter’s life is one thing but letting him back into mine isn’t going to happen. Because the biggest mistake of my life has a name, and that name is Mitchell Aaron Kingsley.

And he’s one mistake I don’t ever intend to make again.

Excerpt:

In the air-conditioned entryway, we’re lined up like opposing teams on a scrimmage line, Trent beside me on one side and Mitch facing us on the other.

Oblivious to the turmoil going on around her and content in my arms, Bree grasps a hank of my hair and lays her head on my shoulder. Then she quietly observes the stranger in her midst, her mouth curved in a broad smile, as if  welcoming him.

I want to tell her not to let his good looks and smooth charm fool her. I want to warn her about this stranger who comes bearing gifts.

Don’t trust him with anything of value, especially your heart, pumpkin. Mommy had to learn that the hard way.

Mitch’s eyes grow cold as his gaze briefly stops on Trent. I can’t believe he cares whether Trent and I are involved, which must mean all that frost has everything to do with the fact that Trent has a relationship with his daughter. Something he doesn’t have.

Purchase:

Teaser:

“First, I don’t want you to think that my accepting is a way of getting us back together. I’m doing what’s best for Bree and my mom,” she states in a no-nonsense voice.

For a brief second, I let my eyes wander and I take in all the bare skin revealed by her outfit, and bite the inside of my mouth to squash the unwanted surge of lust. She doesn’t want to know what I’m thinking.

“No, I get it. This is all about Bree and your mom,” I reply, completely poker-faced, knowing I’m lying through my teeth. She may have convinced herself we’re over but we’re not. Nope, not by a long shot.
